ConServ Group met the Colbert brothers in July 2015 to discuss their idea of building a restaurant on one of the most prominent parcels in Sandwich, on Freezer Road, where the site for years was a fish processing plant. Located at the corner of Cape Cod Canal and the Sandwich Marina, the site has spectacular views of boats offloading fresh catches, the Sagamore Bridge and the Canal. Fishermen’s View is a 164 seat restaurant with outdoor seating, and retail and wholesale seafood businesses providing the freshest of ocean fare. Construction was challenging with the site in an AE Flood Zone requiring the first floor to be elevated 7.5 feet above grade and special building features in the event an actual flood occurred. The steel framed building has a first floor 7400 SF restaurant, wholesale and retail store and a second floor mezzanine for storage. A 24’ X 20’ X 5’ concrete tank was built to store live seafood.
